Roger Fenton: Letters From the Crimea

This website provides transcripts of letters which were sent by English photographer Roger Fenton (1819-1869) to his family and friends, during his "Photographic Trip to the Crimea" in 1855.
The website is a collaborative project initiated by De Montfort University, using two surviving letter books in the collections of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center and the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television. This is the first occasion that all twenty-five letters have been published in full.
The website also provides information about the context in which the letters were written and links to other websites about Roger Fenton, the Crimean War and the photography of the period.
