Arthistoricum is a newly launched web portal from the Zentralinstitut fur Kunstgeschichte, Munich and Heidelberg University Library. An English interface is available.
The portal indexes websites and online publications in art history. The project's vision is to create an international virtual research institute.
The portal is divided into 5 strands: searching for relevant literature; publishing research; looking at earlier primary sources; networking with colleagues working in the same area; and teaching and learning.
Visitors can search the combined catalogues of several leading art history research libraries for print materials via the Virtual Catalogue for Art History (VKK). Users can also search ART-Guide which is a web directory of art history Internet sites. ARTicles indexes articles that appear in online-only art history e-journals.
