BAIRD: The Birth of Television

Baird focuses on the early history of television, from John Logie Baird’s early experiments through the suspension of the BBC service at the outbreak of World War 2 and its limited recommencement in 1946. Sections discuss the early technical experiments with, and rivalries between Baird Television and Marconi-EMI; the early broadcasting studios at Crystal Palace and Alexandra Palace; along with a history of the technological innovations and information about early children’s programmes and test broadcasts.
