Artists' Books

The GSA Library has one of the best collections of artists' books in the UK. Artists' books are books produced by artists themselves, often by subverting or manipulating the book form or its text to create new unexpected juxtapositions. We stock artists' books from people such as Ed Ruscha, Sol LeWitt, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Christian Boltanski, and Gilbert and George.
Our artists' books are now even easier to find. We've added an option to restrict your catalogue searches to this collection via the Collections drop-down list in the Library Catalogue. In addition we've also completely recatalogued the collection, so the catalogue now contains details about designers, printers, fonts and typefaces used.
All artists' books are housed in the Mackintosh Library and can be consulted on a reference only basis.
