Eric Ravilious: Imagined Realities
The Imperial War Museum website has provided this online resource to complement the exhibition, 'Eric Ravilious Imagined Realities' which was held at the Museum from 23 October 2003 to 25 January 2004. This online exhibition considers Ravilious`s observations on the modern world and the English landscape, and looks at stages in his career up to his final days as an official war artist in the second world war. Each section is illustrated with paintings by Ravilious, ranging from his early work including the chalk figures on the downs, and transport and greenhouses. Other sections include reference to his work as a wood engraver and illustrator. Later in his life Ravilious produced designs for Wedgwood ceramics, which are also featured here.
