William Blake Online

Part of the Tate's Learn Online Web pages, this online resource is about the artist, poet, printmaker and visionary, William Blake (1757-1827); it was produced to complement an exhibition held at Tate Britain from 9 November 2000 to 11 February 2001. In this website Blake`s life story is considered in ten yearly sections, whilst another section looks at sixteen sites in London that have a link to Blake, which can be accessed through an interactive map. Some of the key characters in Blake`s world, such as the `Ghost of a Flea' and `Newton' are examined in the section headed `Chambers of the Imagination'. Two of Blake`s great works, `Songs of Innocence and of Experience' and `Jerusalem' are examined in more detail.
