History of the CND Logo

History of the round peace sign from CND, which was created in 1958 by professional designer Gerald Holtom as the symbol for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). "Gerald Holtom, a conscientious objector who had worked on a farm in Norfolk during the Second World War, explained that the symbol incorporated the semaphore letters N(uclear) and D(isarmament)." This resource also describes misrepresentations and misuse of the symbol.
