Visual Directions

The 'Visual Directions' website is an online learning resource developed by the Creative Learning in Practice Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, at the University of the Arts London. Primarily aimed at fashion design students, it is a resource to help students in two key areas: the use of sketchbooks, and reflective commentaries.
The resource attempts to provide an innovative learning experience, rich in its use of visuals, in preference to the use of linear formats often found in online guides for students. As such the resource utilises a Flash plug-in and the use of podcast video clips. The website takes students through the stages of using a sketchbook, and provides easily accessible information on reflective writing. There are examples of students' work throughout, and podcasts feature staff and students discussing their practices.
